P.A. Details
With the use of the HK Audio Lucas system, (see Link) there is no need for any seperate amplification. So all that is needed is a format to play the backing with, input vocals and mix the output.
As many other acts I have chosen to use mini disc's with there ease of use and perfect sound quality. For the vocals I use a Shure beta 58 radio mic. which allows me freedom to move about on stage without tripping over leads. I use this in conjunction with the Berringer composer pro. This is a compresser / expander unit allowing fine tuning of vocals for a cleaner sound and lowering feed back pick up.
For a small, compact mixing desk I scoured the market and tested out various products. I needed one with a good built in effects unit for reverb / echo with ease of use to operate quickly on stage. I settled on the Etek AD 1823. This 12 channel mixer (6 mono/6 stereo) was ideally suited for my needs although I have found one design fault. There is no on/off switch for the reverb and even more importantly, there is no input socket for a foot swich control! This is proving to make operating the desk a little awkquard, although the company assure me that they are working on rectifying this and will issue me with "the improved version" when they have ironed out all the little creases.
For all my P.A. and lighting needs I have used Valley sound and light in Rawtenstall, where friendly helpfull staff make sure you get the best products on the market for your needs and budget. I highly recomend them as a supplier.
